Agent Profiles Best Practice Guide

October 5, 2021

Digital Strategist, Tara Christianson gives her top tips on how to get the most out of your Agent Profile so you can stand out from the competition.

There are more than 1.8 million prospective vendors on realestate.com.au1. Our new-look Agent Profiles have been rebuilt to promote your sales track record, hero your recent reviews, and encourage more sellers to connect with you.

While our updated profiles aim to have more of your information automatically update, there are still sections which require you to input your own information. See Tara’s top tips below for completing your profile to ensure you’re presenting your best self and standing out from the competition.

Writing about yourself:

When writing your Agent Profile, first consider whether you want to use first- or third- person. Using “I” and “me” can make a profile feel more personal; using your given name, instead, can come across as more professional.

Next, put yourself in the shoes of your intended audience. If your main audience are potential clients, especially, vendors, present information that helps them understand who you are and why they’d want to choose you as an agent.

Start with an attention-grabbing first sentence. Treat it as your headline. Give people a reason to want to read more.

Including a standout review directly in your profile can provide impact, as does giving examples of characteristics, local market knowledge, marketing techniques, or other reasons clients choose you as their agent.

Overall, treat your Agent Profile as if it was your most important and valuable listing. After all, you’re listing yourself!

Key Performance Stats:

When either gathering information or validating their choice, vendors want a well-rounded view of your performance, and this will include key performance statistics. We’ve identified specific metrics as the most important priorities to potential clients, which will be automatically included as information to highlight your successes, experience, and overall performance in your chosen markets.

We’ve done the heavy lifting for you to ensure these metrics automatically update. Ensure you mark your active listings as sold as soon as possible and provide the sold price, so it is accounted for on your Agent Profile.

Reviews:

The process of gathering information or making a final decision often balances quantitative information (i.e., your performance statistics) with qualitative information (ratings and reviews). Realestate.com.au’s Ratings and Reviews have become more important than ever in how people find you via Find An Agent as well as how they make a decision about you as their agent.

Collection of reviews has been made easier than ever using the Ignite app. The next step, which is almost as important, is replying to those reviews, which you can also do via the Ignite app. Not only are replies a nice final nod to the clients you’ve previously worked with, they can be that extra 1% that helps distinguish you from other agents.

Map of sold listings:

Visualisation of information can help you stand out from your competition and also cements your authority in the areas you work in. A map of your sold listings will be automatically populated with your sold listings to provide that information.

Ensure you’re providing accurate and timely sold data by marking your active listings as sold as soon as possible and provide the sold price.

Awards:

Awards are a wonderful way to showcase recognition from your agency, your company, the industry, and the community. However, award names can often be confusing to people outside the real estate industry.

If your goal is to provide potential clients a record of your achievements, describe what the award is and what that means in regards to how you represent sellers and/or buyers.

If you’re unsure what to say, start with the judging criteria of the award. If the award is commissions-based, think about what that might mean in terms of prices you have achieved for vendors or overall number of properties you’ve sold over the past year.

If you’re newer to the industry, consider including some of the speciality areas you focus on instead, e.g., "Specializes in apartments.”

Community involvement:

Information about involvement in community activities, such as charity work or fundraisers, will finish off your Agent Profile and provide the most holistic view. Other forms of community involvement can be sitting on school boards, assistance at local clubs, and event sponsorship.
